Introduction:

Last year for the gifted supplemental research, you investigated issues in a hobby or field that had a particular interest to you.  You created an informative project on this topic and then demonstrated a “how to” project on this topic.  This year you may continue with the topic or select a new topic (if you didn’t do a topic last year that is fine, it will not affect this year’s project).  For the end product second semester of this year, the goal is for you to create a product related to your field.  The type of product that you create will depend upon the field that you decide to enter.  The goal is for you to consider what an expert in the field would create and then attempt to emulate that product—it doesn’t have to be at the proficiency level of an expert but should strive toward being as sophisticated as you are currently able to do.

We have a two-fold goal for this semester:  to research the masterpieces of an expert in your field and to plan what you will create for next semester.

Part A:  Identify an expert in your field.  Find three sources about this expert. Write a 2-3 page essay (500 words to 750 words, 2500 characters to 3750 characters) in which you incorporate the following.

1. Explain what your field is

2. Biography of this expert

3. Possible Applications to your work next semester

4. Include a works cited

Part B: Proposal of 1-2 pages.  Create a map/blue print/outline of what you will do for a project for next semester.  This may be written in a blue print form, as an outline, bulleted format, or in a narrative.  Discuss each of the following, including how you will acquire the items.
